TorinoFilmLab opens the calls for its 2026 programs

Since October 1, 2025, TorinoFilmLab (TFL) has opened applications for its 2026 training and development programs: ScriptLab & Story Editing, FeatureLab, ComedyLab, and SeriesLab & Story Editing. Organized by the laboratory and hub of the Museo Nazionale del Cinema with the support of Creative Europe – MEDIA, TFL remains a key international reference point for screenwriters, directors, and producers.

Over its 18-year trajectory, the laboratory has supported the creation of around 250 films and series that have earned recognition at the world’s leading festivals. Among the most recent highlights are Landmarks by Lucrecia Martel, premiered in Venice; The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo by Diego Céspedes, awarded in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard; and Romería by Carla Simón, presented in the Cannes competition. In 2024, Vermiglio by Maura Delpero—developed at TFL in 2021—won the Silver Lion in Venice and seven David di Donatello awards.

The 2026 programs will combine residential workshops and online modules throughout the year, concluding in November with the 19th edition of the TFL Meeting Event, the co-production market where selected projects are presented to producers, sales agents, and other key industry players.

ScriptLab & Story Editing is aimed at filmmakers in the early stages of writing fiction feature films, fostering a collaborative development process. It also trains future story editors through hands-on work on selected projects. This edition, organized together with the Tartu Film Fund and the Estonian Film Institute, will host 16 projects and four story editors. The application deadline is November 3, 2025.

FeatureLab targets creative teams in the advanced stages of developing their first or second feature film, with residential workshops and an online session starting in June 2026. It is open to all genres, including creative documentaries and animation. The call for applications closes on December 2, 2025.

Now in its third edition, ComedyLab—organized with the VAF – Flanders Audiovisual Fund and the Polish Film Institute—focuses exclusively on comedy. Following a preliminary workshop in March, eight projects will be selected to take part in three in-person workshops and online modules. The deadline for submissions is December 12, 2025.

Finally, SeriesLab & Story Editing, also in collaboration with the Polish Film Institute, will support the development of original fiction series with market potential, while training new story editors. The program will kick off in June 2026 and will feature three residential workshops and online sessions. The deadline to apply is December 17, 2025.
