Caligari (originally Caligari Magazine) was founded in 2016 by Mauro Lukasievicz, who continues to serve as editor-in-chief to this day. From the very beginning, it established itself as a leading outlet specializing in auteur and independent cinema, with a carefully curated editorial line that champions quality, critical perspective, and the discovery of new cinematic voices.

Over the years, Caligari has gained wide international recognition, becoming a space for the dissemination, analysis, and discussion of contemporary cinema. Its pages bring together interviews with some of the most important filmmakers in the world, alongside reviews, essays, and articles that approach cinema from a rigorous and committed perspective.

Its activity goes beyond digital publishing. Caligari covers the major international film festivals and organizes screenings, talks, gatherings, and special programs under the Caligari Autores banner. It is also a media partner of leading festivals around the world.

Caligari currently hosts screenings every Friday at MALBA Cine, and every other Wednesday at Cine Gaumont it presents American Cinematheque at Caligari, a program run in partnership with the American Cinematheque of Los Angeles. It has also organized retrospectives dedicated to directors such as Lisandro Alonso, Nicolás Pereda, Sofia Bohdanowicz, Ruth Beckermann, and Apichatpong Weerasethakul.
