They announced the feature films selected for the 2025 Cannes Critics' Week

The Cannes Film Festival’s Critics’ Week has unveiled its lineup for its 64th edition, which will take place from May 14 to 22. Founded in 1962 by the French Union of Film Critics, this parallel section continues to establish itself as a key platform for discovering new talents in world cinema. This year’s selection includes seven feature films in competition (five debuts and two sophomore works), along with special screenings and a short film showcase that will be announced on April 17.

As with the Official Selection at Cannes, there are no Argentine feature films included in this year’s lineup. However, with more films and the official short film selection yet to be announced, there is still a chance for last-minute additions.

The 2025 edition will open with L’intérêt d’Adam, the second feature film by Belgian director Laura Wandel, and close with Planètes (Dandelion’s Odyssey), the debut animated feature by Japanese filmmaker Momoko Seto. The lineup also includes standout titles such as A Useful Ghost by Thai director Ratchapoom Boonbunchachoke, Ciudad Sin Sueño by Spanish filmmaker Guillermo Galoe, Kika by Belgium’s Alexe Poukine, and Rietland by Dutch director Sven Bresser, among others.

The jury will be presided over by Spanish filmmaker Rodrigo Sorogoyen and will include Moroccan critic Jihane Bougrine, Franco-Canadian cinematographer Josée Deshaies, Indonesian producer Yulia Evina Bhara, and British actor Daniel Kaluuya. They will present four awards: the AMI Paris Grand Prize, the French Touch Jury Prize, the Louis Roederer Foundation Rising Star Award, and the Leitz Cine Discovery Prize for short films.

This year’s poster, inspired by Queens of Drama by Alexis Langlois, captures the vibrant, youthful spirit of the event, which continues to champion emerging filmmakers with fresh, bold perspectives committed to the future of auteur cinema. While the short films are still to come, Critics’ Week reaffirms its place as one of the most vital and dynamic sections of the Cannes Film Festival.
