Perfectly a Strangeness and Upon Sunrise Triumph at Tramway Film Festival 2025

The Tramway Film Festival has announced the winners of its official competition following the deliberation of the jury, composed of Polish director and producer Zuzanna Solakiewicz, who served as chair, along with Spanish filmmaker Alberto Gracia and producer María Ruiz-Falcó. The selected works stand out for their artistic boldness and their ability to engage audiences through visual metaphors and intimate storytelling.

In the Cine Sin Fin section, the jury awarded a Special Mention to director Wojciech Węglarz for Bloodline, a film that, they noted, offers “an artistic reflection on the borders that simultaneously define and divide humanity.”

The Best Film award in this category went to Alison McAlpine for Perfectly a Strangeness. The jury highlighted “its poetic reflection on the mysteries of time and a beautifully crafted metaphor that lingers beyond the screen.”

In the Cineverso section, the Special Mention was given to Atsushi Hirai for Oyu, recognized as “a minimalist approach to existential questions, a restrained and thoughtful reflection on the human condition.”

The Best Film Cineverso award was presented to Stefan Ivančić for Upon Sunrise, distinguished for its sensitivity toward the struggles of working people. The jury praised it as “a simple yet deeply meaningful story, with a stylistic approach reminiscent of classic Eastern European cinema.”
