Nicolás Gil Lavedra, Inés Gowland, Mariana Seropian, and Diego Martínez Ulanosky Selected for Berlinale Talents 2026
Nicolás Gil Lavedra, Inés Gowland, Mariana Seropian, and Diego Martínez Ulanosky were selected to take part in the eighth edition of Berlinale Talents 2026, the prestigious professional training and development program held within the framework of the Berlin International Film Festival.
The new edition will bring together 200 participants from 120 countries in Berlin for an intensive program of workshops, talks, public discussions, and international collaboration spaces. Under the theme “Creating (and) Confusion — Cinema, Chaos and the Power of Discomfort,” the initiative aims to reflect on contemporary cinema, creative chaos, and the value of discomfort as an artistic and political driving force.
Berlinale Talents places a strong emphasis on promoting diversity and equality within the audiovisual sector. This year’s selected group is composed of 110 women, 81 men, three non-binary participants, and six individuals who chose not to disclose their gender identity. The talents represent 15 different fields of cinematic creation, ranging from directing and screenwriting to cinematography, editing, music composition, and costume design.
Among the Argentine participants is Nicolás Gil Lavedra, a director, screenwriter, and producer based in Buenos Aires. His work moves between fiction and documentary, with a strong focus on character-driven stories and social issues. In 2015, he co-founded the production company Gaman Cine and has directed and produced several projects, including his debut feature Verdades Verdaderas.
Also selected is Inés Gowland, an Argentine filmmaker specializing in narrative cinema, whose work is distinguished by the development of visual languages that prioritize story and character. Her films have screened at major international festivals such as Sundance, SXSW, Rotterdam, Clermont-Ferrand, Tribeca, and San Sebastián. She was also selected for the ASC Vision Mentorship, a program run by the American Society of Cinematographers.
Diego Martínez Ulanosky, director and producer, explores in his work stories related to identity, desire, and moments of rupture in which illusion collides with adulthood, addressing intimate and generational tensions.
Completing the group is Mariana Seropian, a fashion designer who graduated from the University of Buenos Aires. She furthered her artistic training in photography and painting before specializing in costume design. She studied at the Instituto de Artes del Teatro Colón, completed courses in film costume design, and finished the Fashion as Design program at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and Design (MoMA).
In addition to its core activities, Berlinale Talents includes complementary initiatives such as the Berlinale Talents Lab and the Talent Project Market, key platforms that allow participants to present their projects, connect with potential production partners, and strengthen global cooperation within the audiovisual industry.
