Arte France Cinéma, under the direction of Olivier Père, has announced the selection of four new projects in its third committee of 2025, among which Jenjira’s Magnificent Dream stands out, the upcoming film by Thai filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul, winner of the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2010 with Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives and twice Jury Prize winner at the festival for Tropical Malady (2004) and Memoria (2021). Starring Jenjira Pongpas, Connor Jessup, Sakda Kaewbuadee and Tilda Swinton, the film will follow Jenjira, a Thai widow who travels to Sigiriya to scatter her husband’s ashes, and who, amid hazy visions that alter her perception of time and space, embarks on a journey through different eras until becoming a living portal between the past, the future, and the spiritual. The co-production brings together Anna Sanders Films (France), Burning (Colombia), Kick the Machine (Thailand), Baldr Film (the Netherlands), Piano Producciones (Mexico) and Meta Films (Canada), with filming set to begin in February 2026 in Sri Lanka.
Arte France Cinéma’s support also extends to Le cabinet du docteur Albertini, the thirteenth feature by Emmanuel Mouret, who competed at Venice in 2024 with Three Friends and was showcased at Cannes in 2022 with Diary of a Fleeting Affair. This new police comedy, led by Laure Calamy and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, revolves around Julia, a jealous woman who begins therapy with Doctor Albertini in an attempt to control her obsessions, but finds herself entangled in a crime when Sandra, her partner’s new colleague, is found murdered. The film, produced by Moby Dick Films, is scheduled to begin shooting in February 2026 in Île-de-France.
Another of the selected projects is Impunidad, the second feature by Chilean filmmaker Felipe Gálvez, who made a strong impression at Cannes 2023 with The Settlers. This time, the director tackles a political spy thriller inspired by Philippe Sands’ book 38 Rue de Londres and centered on the arrest of Augusto Pinochet. The production, led by Les Films du Worso (France), Rei Pictures (Argentina/United Kingdom) and Quiddity Films (United Kingdom), will start shooting in June in the United Kingdom, Chile and Spain.
Finally, the institution will also support Corte Culebra, the debut fiction feature by Panamanian filmmaker Ana Elena Tejera, set in the year 2000, at a decisive moment in the country’s history when Panama regained full control of the Canal Zone after nearly a century of American presence. With Chilean star Alfredo Castro in the lead role, the film is produced by Fulgurance (France) and Mestizo Cine (Panama), and will begin filming in February 2026 in Panama.
In addition to these productions, Arte France Cinéma continues to support projects by renowned filmmakers such as Andrei Zviaguintsev, Albert Serra, Kaouther Ben Hania, Pawel Pawlikowski, Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, Kornél Mundruczó, Mia Hansen-Løve and Robert Guédiguian, among others, consolidating its role as a pillar of international auteur cinema.
