Visions du Réel 2026 to take place in April with international juries announced across all competitions
The 57th edition of the international documentary film festival Visions du Réel 2026 has unveiled its competition juries, bringing together a wide range of prominent film professionals from around the world. The festival, set to take place in April 2026, will once again rely on these distinguished figures to evaluate and celebrate the most outstanding works in contemporary documentary cinema.
Over the course of a week of screenings, the juries will watch, deliberate, and select films that stand out for their boldness, originality, and artistic vision. The awards aim to recognize filmmakers whose works demonstrate uniqueness and ambition within the global documentary landscape.
The International Feature Film Competition jury will include Rémi Bonhomme, Lina Soualem, and Brett Story. The Burning Lights Competition will be judged by Ali Asgari, Liyo Gong, and Antoine Thirion. In the National Competition, Cecilia Barrionuevo, Nicole Reinhard, and Sofia Tocar will oversee the selection of top national entries.
Meanwhile, the International Medium Length & Short Film Competition jury will be composed of Róisín Burns, Stavros Markoulakis, and Franziska Sonder. The FIPRESCI Prize jury will bring together Jerry Chiemeke, Nil Kural, and Sabrina Schwob. Additional awards will be decided by specialized juries, including the Perception Change Award, with Aziyade Poltier-Mutal and François Vioud, and the Interreligious Jury, featuring Emmanuel Deonna, Christian Georges, David Rossé, and Bahareh Zareeipolgardani.
The festival’s Awards Ceremony is scheduled for Friday, April 24, while the VdR–Industry Awards Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. On both occasions, respected film personalities will present prizes to filmmakers whose works distinguish themselves through creativity and vision.
