From October 6 to 26, 2025, the first edition of Cina Cina – Film Residencies will take place, a new space for creation and support for Ibero-American filmmakers, hosted at El Puntazo, the iconic house designed by Carlos Páez Vilaró in Portezuelo, Maldonado.
The program, dedicated to the development of feature film projects, announced the eight projects selected to participate in this intensive three-week experience. During the residency, filmmakers will receive personalized guidance from renowned tutors Inés Bortagaray (Uruguay) and Martín Rejtman (Argentina). In addition to mentorship sessions, the residents will engage in focused work on writing and advancing their scripts, with ongoing support from the Cina Cina organizing team.
“The spirit of Cina Cina is to foster a fertile environment for the creative process, where projects can mature in dialogue with tutors and peers,” said the organizers. The initiative is supported by ACAU and the Ibermedia Program, establishing itself as a space designed to strengthen and showcase Ibero-American cinema from Uruguay. With this first edition, Cina Cina – Film Residencies inaugurates a meeting point for both emerging and established filmmakers, committed to collective creation and cultural exchange in a unique setting.
