Your Body in My Room, by Axel Cheb Terrab, to Have Its World Premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival

The Argentine short film Your Body in My Room, directed by Axel Cheb Terrab, will have its world premiere at the 78th edition of the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF), which takes place from August 15 to 21 in Scotland. The film portrays the final encounter between two former lovers who, aware that they will never see each other again, confront the passage of time with intensity and melancholy.

This year, EIFF returns with bold and renewed programming, including 43 feature films and 18 world premieres. Alongside a strong presence of emerging voices and innovative narratives, the festival will also host six retrospective screenings, a big-screen tribute to James Bond, and a celebration of cult filmmaker Budd Boetticher’s work.

A major highlight of the event is the launch of the NFTS Sean Connery Talent Lab, an initiative supporting new talent and presenting six world-premiere short films—among them Your Body in My Room. These works will compete for the Thelma Schoonmaker Prize for Short Filmmaking Excellence, a £15,000 award recognizing outstanding achievements in short-form cinema.

EIFF’s Out of Competition section features several world premieres that push the boundaries of cinematic form while exploring universal themes. In addition, the festival will host conversations with some of the most influential figures in contemporary cinema, including Andrea Arnold, Nia DaCosta, Kevin Macdonald, and Ben Wheatley.

With an open approach to new cinematic languages and a strong commitment to diversity, the festival reaffirms its role as an international platform for emerging filmmakers. The inclusion of Cheb Terrab’s work in this prestigious event marks a significant step forward for the global reach of Argentine independent cinema.
