Opened Call for Entries for the 74th Edition of the San Sebastián Film Festival
The San Sebastián International Film Festival has opened the online submission period for films seeking preselection for its 74th edition, which will take place from September 18 to 26, 2026. Interested production companies, filmmakers, and audiovisual project representatives may submit their works until June 16, 2026, the deadline for most sections of the festival.
The call is open to films and projects wishing to take part in any of the sections that make up the festival’s programme, provided they accept the regulations established by the festival management and correctly complete the corresponding submission form within the specified deadlines.
Sections currently open for submissions include the Official Selection, New Directors, Horizontes Latinos, Zabaltegi-Tabakalera, Perlak, Zinemira, Made in Spain, Velodrome, Children’s Cinema, Culinary Zinema, Klasikoak, and Eusko Label, as well as industry and development initiatives such as the Europe–Latin America Co-Production Forum and Ikusmira Berriak. Programmes such as the Zinemaldia Startup Challenge and Loterías Short Films are also included, with the submission deadline for the latter to be announced shortly.
However, the WIP Latam, WIP Europe, and Nest sections are not included in this initial call for entries. Submissions for these sections will open in early June, with specific deadlines extending into early July.
Regarding preselection materials, the festival will accept online links or password-protected screeners, as well as DVD, Blu-ray, and DCP formats. Trailers will not be accepted as preselection material. Films whose original version is in Spanish, Basque, English, or French do not require subtitles, while productions in other languages must include subtitles.
Submission fees for preselection vary depending on the duration and format of the work. Medium-length films, running between 31 and 59 minutes, are subject to a fee of €70 (VAT included), while feature films of 60 minutes or more must pay €110. For digital DCP delivery, the fee is €210 regardless of running time. Payments must be made in euros during the submission process via credit card or PayPal.
Submissions to the WIP Latam, WIP Europe, and Nest sections are free of charge, as is the submission of projects to the Europe–Latin America Co-Production Forum and Ikusmira Berriak.
