The Hubert Bals Fund (HBF) of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) has announced the three projects selected for the 2026 edition of its HBF+Europe: Post-production Support scheme. Each project will receive €60,000 to complete its final stage of production.
Among the selected titles is Las Antigüedades, the new feature by Argentine filmmaker Manque La Banca. The film is a co-production between Argentina’s Pionera Cine and Spain’s Testaferro, and it arrives at this stage after a strong international run during development. In July 2026, the project won two awards at FIDLab, the co-production platform of the FIDMarseille International Film Festival, including the Doc Alliance Network of Markets Award.
Las Antigüedades continues the experimental, auteur-driven approach of the Patagonian director, who gained international recognition with his debut feature Esquí (2021). That film premiered in the Berlinale Forum, where it won the FIPRESCI international critics’ award.
The other two selected projects are Kohinoor, directed by Udita Bhargava and produced by Schiwago Film GmbH (Germany), Amour Fou Luxembourg (Luxembourg) and VK Art and Design Pvt. (India); and Um Rio de Janeiro, by Brazilian director Angelo Defanti, a co-production between Sobretudo Produção (Brazil), Uruguay’s Oportuna Films and Wonder Maria (Portugal).
Backed by Creative Europe MEDIA, the HBF+Europe scheme supports European minority co-producers working on films from HBF territories at the final stage of production.
The programme comes off a notable success: earlier this year, Variations on a Theme, also supported by the scheme, won the Tiger Award at IFFR 2026 and has since been selected as South Africa’s submission for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film.
