El Enjambre, by Florentina González, selected for the Short Film Pitches at MIFA 2025, Annecy Festival

Argentinian animation once again stands out on the international stage: El Enjambre, a project by director Florentina González, has been selected to participate in the Short Film Pitches section at the prestigious MIFA, the market of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The official presentation will take place on June 12 as part of the @annecyfestival.

With a storyline that blends science fiction and absurd humor, El Enjambre unfolds in an imaginary post-Pampas landscape, reshaped by climate change. A swarm of insects spreads through the region, forcing its inhabitants to flee. Nevertheless, three reckless friends are determined to enjoy their vacation together—no matter what.

The short film is part of a selection of 48 projects that showcase some of the most vibrant and promising work in global animation. In this special edition marking MIFA’s 40th anniversary, a total of 917 projects from 92 countries were submitted. Organizers have highlighted the diversity, boldness, and emotional depth of the selected works, which reflect both a spirit of experimentation and a strong political and artistic commitment that defines today’s animation landscape.

In addition to Argentina, the pitches include projects from countries such as Japan, Greece, Colombia, Vietnam, Nigeria, and Ukraine, further establishing Annecy as a key meeting point for emerging voices in animated cinema.
