CPH:FORUM 2026 reveals its selection of documentary projects for its upcoming edition

The CPH:FORUM, the leading financing and co-production event of the international documentary festival CPH:DOX, has announced the selection of 30 projects from 23 countries that will take part in its upcoming edition, to be held from March 17 to 19. The projects are at various stages, ranging from early development to advanced production.

The selection brings together new works by renowned international filmmakers and producers, many of whom have been honored at top-tier festivals. Notable names include Ra’anan Alexandrowicz (The Viewing Booth), Beniamino Barrese (The Disappearance of My Mother), David Borenstein (Mr. Nobody Against Putin), Radu Ciorniciuc (Acasa – My Home), Diana El Jeiroudi (Republic of Silence), Kathryn Ferguson (Nothing Compares), Lea Glob (Apolonia, Apolonia), Göran Hugo Olsson (Israel Palestine on Swedish TV 1958–1989), and Verena Paravel (De Humani Corporis Fabrica). Prestigious producers are also involved, including Aman Mann and Shaunak Sen (All That Breathes), as well as Alex Pritz and Will N. Miller (The Territory).

According to Mara Gourd-Mercado, Head of Industry & Training, the CPH:FORUM 2026 selection reflects the spirit of the present moment:

“The CPH:FORUM 2026 selection tells the story of the times we live in through the perspectives of filmmakers who challenge the status quo, take risks, and engage with the world. We have conceived this edition not only as a showcase, but as a vital space where the transformative power of documentary is once again revealed—defending democracy and fostering understanding in complex times.”

As part of the industry section, on March 16 selected scenes from five projects will be presented in the CPH:ROUGHCUT section, all scheduled for release in 2026, to an audience of more than 200 industry professionals. On the same day, eight projects from Eastern Partnership countries—Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine—will be showcased within the CHANGE strand.

In terms of awards and support, CPH:FORUM is strengthening its offering, which now exceeds €100,000 in cash and services, thanks to longstanding collaborations with organizations such as Sandbox Films, Al Jazeera, Eurimages, Rise And Shine, and Unifrance/Titrafilm. These are joined by two new awards: ARTE will grant two projects Rough Cut Service consultancies valued at €2,500 each, while the Jacob Burns Film Center will award one project a fellowship and residency including access to editing and post-production facilities, with an approximate value of €8,500.
