BITBANG, International Animation Film Festival, announces its 11th edition — from October 28 to November 1

From October 28 to November 1, Latin America’s most important International Animation Festival will take place across seven venues in Buenos Aires. Admission to most activities is free.

From October 28 to November 1, the City of Buenos Aires becomes an animation hub. The BITBANG International Animation Festival celebrates its 11th edition with a diverse program that includes short films, premieres, showcases, retrospectives, workshops, talks, masterclasses, a graphic fair, games, art installations, and parties.

Events will be held at seven venues throughout the city: Cine Gaumont, Centro Cultural Borges, Escuela Da Vinci, Club Lucero, La Paz Arriba, Pabellón 4, and Can Can Club.

This new edition will feature top international and national guests, screenings, animation competitions, parties, in-person workshops, an Animation Jam, talks, exhibitions, artistic installations, and a wide variety of activities with industry figures from around the world.

BITBANG serves as a platform that promotes author-driven and experimental works aimed at adult audiences—and, above all, a meeting point where art enthusiasts, emerging talents, and established artists converge.

Admission to most of the program is free (except for workshops and parties).

Confirmed guests for this edition include:

  • Jocelyn Charles (France) – music video director for The Weeknd and L’Impératrice; currently working at Remembers, the studio founded by Félix de Givry and Ugo Bienvenu.

  • Michael Frei (Switzerland) – animation director and game designer, creator of Plug & Play and Kids.

  • Simón Wilches Castro (Colombia/USA) – creative director at Titmouse; worked on Marvel’s Fantastic Four and WandaVision, Dua Lipa’s Hallucinate, and Charlie Kaufman’s I’m Thinking of Ending Things.

  • Silvia Prietov (Colombia) – director and founder of Lucy Animation Studio, a leading figure in Latin American animation.

  • Jésica Bianchi (Argentina) – visual artist and director specializing in digital illustration and 2D animation, whose work blends manga and surrealism.

  • Paula Boffo (Argentina) – art director and illustrator recognized for her work in contemporary comics and animation.

  • Gabriel Fermanelli (Argentina) – director and animator specializing in motion graphics and advertising, with an international career.

  • Solène Crépin, Nicolás Couvin, among others.

More activities and the films selected for the Official Competition and non-competitive sections will be announced soon. The full schedule will be available shortly on the Festival’s official website and social media.

As every year, the Festival will host the International and Latin American Animation Competitions, which receive over 2,000 submissions from more than 100 countries annually.

In addition, a special call for projects in collaboration with Can Can Club is now open: the winning project will receive funding to produce a short film, one month of studio access with equipment at the club, and mentorship and guidance throughout the creative process.
