The 28th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival (TiDF28), taking place March 5–15, 2026, has announced the return of Agora, its industry hub regarded as one of the most dynamic and vibrant in Southeast Europe and the Mediterranean. The section will run March 6–14 and will be open to creative and TV documentaries, documentary series, documentaries for children and young audiences, and new narrative forms such as virtual and augmented reality.
Agora has established itself as a meeting point for directors, producers, and buyers from around the world, supporting films at every stage of development. Backed by the Creative Europe MEDIA program and in collaboration with the Documentary Association of Europe (DAE), it offers a hybrid space—both onsite and online—where industry professionals can meet with filmmakers to discuss projects and build partnerships.
The Thessaloniki Pitching Forum, with submissions open until November 26, 2025, will select up to 14 projects to receive mentorship, workshops, and the chance to present their proposals before an international panel of experts. Prizes include the IEFTA Best Doc in Development Award (€10,000), the EURODOC Award (€1,000 and network membership), as well as scholarships, consulting sessions, and international accreditations.
Agora Docs in Progress, with a deadline of December 5, 2025, targets projects in post-production seeking distribution, a festival premiere, or completion funds. Awards include post-production services, subtitling, and the EKKOMED Award (€3,000 for a Greek project). The Agora XR Lab will also take place for the second consecutive year, a workshop dedicated to immersive experiences and digital storytelling, led by producer and writer Vassiliki Khonsari.
Regarding international participation, the call is open to projects from a list of countries in Southeast Europe, the Mediterranean, and Central Europe—among them Spain, France, Italy, and Portugal. This means that Argentine projects may only participate if submitted as a co-production with one of those eligible countries.
Further information and application forms are available at Film Festival Thessaloniki – Agora or via email at agora@filmfestival.gr.
